Studies reveal that the lack of stability during the formative years faced by children in foster care impedes the development of a solid educational foundation. As children transition into adulthood, the focus on survival often eclipses educational pursuits, leading to missed opportunities and unfulfilled potential. These challenges extend far beyond the classroom and as such it is imperative to recognize and address these systemic issues with a more supportive environment.
The Achiever’s program intends to create a more reliable support system for individuals in foster care with the benefits of stable housing, closer monitoring of academic performance, and critical guidance to ensure that education becomes an empowering force rather than an elusive dream.
Components and Activities include:
- Track student’s performance through Monthly/Quarterly check-ins with the schools.
- Individual weekly one-on-one
- Establish a reward system for participants who maintain B and A averages.
- Education Resource Awareness Activities
- Celebrating Milestones (Academic, graduation, birthdays etc.
