The Ride or Drive program is designed to provide essential transportation resources to youth in need.
This includes electric bikes, scooters, bicycles, and additional driving lessons for those who could benefit from extra support to gain confidence on the road. For those who prefer not to drive, the program offers alternative transportation options. We will partner with donors to make this initiative possible.
To support our multifaceted approach to youth empowerment, participants will have the opportunity to acquire a permit or driver’s license. In addition to being a means of identification, a driver’s license can be important for teenagers to support their independence, employability in the future, and safety. The objective of the Ride or Drive program is to support teens in improving their responsibility, confidence, and maturity.
The program will strategically utilize the driver’s license processes to enhance youngsters’ independence, and maturity to support their successful transition from the foster care system. For example, driver’s ed can help teens build confidence in their ability to handle what happens on the road and enhance their responsibility in caring for their car and obeying traffic laws.
The program will support participants in acquiring a personal permit or a driver’s
license through the following.
Components and Activities include:
- Awareness and knowledge of requirements
- Practice in completing the license’s application form(s)
